The variety of coffee is immense. An amount of different flavors exists around the world. The plant is grown in over 50 countries worldwide. Arabica is probably the best known coffee variant in Germany.
Everyone knows the conflict: standing in front of a shopping shelf in a supermarket at the coffee section and not being sure about which flavor to take. The ordinary situation show us how difficult it is, to make the decision which coffee beans to try next. The offer and variety seems endless.
Apart from the flavor, the outstanding quality plays a very important role in the choice of coffee beans.
In order to guarantee the quality standard, it is necessary to control the individual beans precisely. Our software is designed for industrial use. It is able to analyze the small beans in realtime and without any physical contact, so they can be identified by the machine. According to the settings, the unwanted objects can be sorted out later.
Germany is known for its high standards in quality control in the food industry. They have very strict guidelines. There are a lot of conditions and restrictions that must be adhered to. In contrast to common samples, which in turn require higher costs and more time, LuxFlux offers a suitable alternative. We rely on hyperspectral technologies that enable complete, fast and non-contact measurement in the process.
All illustrations above show the same image section. The first line of images shows the original pictures (RGB camera) of coffee beans with foreign factors (such as wood or rocks). The same objects are also shown on the lower line of pictures. These are false-color coded images. The similar-looking substances are depicted with pseudocolors for a better identification. The material properties or material differences that appear in the hyperspectral analysis are visualized on the lower images. The last picture shows the ability of the software to assign the objects into specific groups. With this method the different substances can be identified and classified in a fast way.
